Job Description

Summary

The Lead Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) will serve as the company’s primary subject matter expert on fire protection engineering. In this role, the individual acts as lead engineer for the entire system; is responsible for performing and overseeing engineering analyses and tradeoffs at the system level; and collaborates with system administrators and cybersecurity analysts to ensure security is integrated into all engineering efforts. The individual in this position will represent the company with engineering products, solutions, and recommendations and will be considered the Contractor’s Qualified Fire Protection Engineer (QFPE).

 

This position is contingent upon contract award


Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and leadership for fire protection engineering designs, conducting high-level analysis, making system-wide trade-offs, and ensuring alignment with objectives, regulatory standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and cybersecurity analysts to integrate security requirements into fire protection system designs and ensure compliance with UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and other applicable codes.
  • Perform fire hazard analyses, system design reviews, and compliance assessments, providing technical expertise during design, implementation, and testing phases.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documentation, including design submittals, technical reports, specifications, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Represent the company by serving as the primary point of contact on fire protection engineering issues, presenting solutions, conducting training, and addressing stakeholder questions.
  • Coordinate with architects, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems.
  • Lead internal quality control/quality assurance initiatives for fire protection system designs.
  • Support project proposals, cost estimates, and technical documentation to meet client and contractual requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of experience in the Fire Protection engineering field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) who has passed the fire protection engineering written examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
  • Relevant fire protection engineering experience, including design, implementation, and inspection of fire protection systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with NFPA codes, standards, and guidelines.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strong understanding of fire protection engineering principles, including compliance with UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make system-level trade-offs and decisions.
  • Proficiency in project documentation and reporting, including preparation of technical documents and presentations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with project stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators and cybersecurity specialists.

Estimated Salary/Wage

USD $100,000.00/Yr.
